Written by Arelys Alexander | May 10, 2017

The Founders Club would like to welcome Ann McClure as our new Head Golf Professional, joining First Assistant Joel Rasho to deliver a superior golf experience to all members of our private Sarasota golf and country club community.

Anne McClure brings more than 25 years of experience to her position at The Founders Club, including holding the position of head golf professional and assistant golf professional in Florida and Maine and spending the past four winters as a seasonal member of The Founders Club’s golf team.  She was nominated several times by Golf Digest Magazine as a “Top 5 Teaching Professional” in the state of Maine, as well as received nominations for Golf Digest’s “50 Greatest Women Teachers.”  Her love of the game has allowed her to place in the top ten during the Women’s Massachusetts Open and earn a victory in the Maine Chapter New England PGA Pro-Pro Championship.

Over the past few months, Anne and Joel have worked together to keep the golf operations running smoothly and efficiently.  In addition to Annexing the golf community team, The Founders Club is also pleased to announce that Joel is now also serving as as tournament director and caddy master, as well as supporting day-to-day golf operations.  Together, Anne and Joel will be readily available to assist all of The Founders Club’s members as they improve their skills and increase their overall love of golf.

Members of The Founders Golf and Social Club get to take advantage of year-round golf, as well as Sarasota’s only traditional caddie program, and with membership limited to just 275, no tee times are required to enjoy a refreshing round on our signature Robert Trent Jones, Jr. course.  This dramatic and rewarding course was recently updated from the traditional Bermuda grass to sprigs of Florida-friendly Celebration, a deep blue-green Bermuda species repeatedly named the top turf for wear tolerance and recovery and drought resistance.  The driving range was also recently expanded to include 10 new tees at the now 32-tee range.  Overall, the driving range was made wider and deeper with more areas for members and guests to use on the practice end and the teaching end, further enhancing The Founders Club’s practice and training facilities.  The Founders Club’s practice and training facilities consists of two putting greens, a short game area, and state-of-the-art TrackMan radar technology through the Florida Golf Performance Center, as well as a Flight Scope system.

After spending time out on the greens, members can soak in some of the cool air in the 24,000-square-foot Golf Hall.  Overlooking an oak hammock and the 18th hole, the Golf Hall offers a main dining room, bar and grille, outdoor verandah, and private dining room for casual and fine dining. The facility also has a professionally staffed and fully stocked golf pro shop, state-of-the-art fitness center, and men’s and women’s locker rooms and lounges.  In addition to signature golf, The Founders Club offers Har-Tru tennis courts, basketball and sand volleyball courts, and a picnic pavilion to enjoy a lovely meal during an exceptionally beautifully day.  After your meal, meander through winding boardwalks and paved walkways to take in the beauty of the golf community’s 700 acres of picturesque lakes, nature preserves, and gently swaying stands of pines, palms, and 100 protected moss-covered oaks.  You may also be able to spot a variety of birds and wildlife that take residence in our boutique style community.  It’s no wonder The Founders Club has been recognized by the Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association as the Best Overall Community with the Best Amenities.
