SARASOTA, Fla. (April 1, 2014) – Light sun-bleached wood floors, beadboard backsplashes and rustic beamed ceilings provide a beach bungalow-inspired backdrop for luxury interior design in the Girona, a new model home nearing completion at The Founders Club.

The three-bedroom single-family villa, built by London Bay Homes, is slated to open for viewing in May 2014. Romanza Interior Design will blend transitional and contemporary elements and feature a palette of sands and grays with subtle greens and rusts.

The Girona offers a formal dining room, study, home office and great room, as well as a breakfast nook, three full baths and a powder room within 3,526 square feet of interior living space. The floor plan is one of more than 20 offered by London Bay at The Founders Club, Sarasota’s traditional golf and social club community.

The model’s open floor plan and hand-finished hickory wood plank floor are introduced inside the single iron-and-glass arched door. The foyer flows into the adjoining dining room and continues to the living room, where sliding glass doors showcase the home’s outdoor areas, pool and spa along with views of golf, lake and nature preserves.

Romanza designer Michael Scott will introduce beams in the foyer and dining room ceilings and repeat the rustic wood architectural feature in the kitchen and great room.

A two-tiered black iron chandelier will appear in the dining room, above a round table circled by six chairs upholstered in wide stripes of ivory and gray. Three windows topped by square transoms provide natural light.

The living room will intermingle light and warm walnut brown wood tones with modern and eclectic furniture styles, including two curved benches, a coffee-colored leather chair, and two armchairs upholstered in a striped sand and ivory fabric. Three niches accent the room’s main wall. The center will have a weathered console with wall-mount flat TV flanked on each side by narrower recesses with glass display shelves.

Cream-toned cabinetry in the kitchen will have paneled doors, rubbed edges for an aged look, and Carrara countertops with a leather finish. Beadboard backsplashes nod to the cottage look, while the stove’s handmade tile backsplash adds a hint of shine.

The kitchen will offer a stainless steel 48-inch Wolf range, Sub-Zero side-by-side refrigerator/freezer and microwave oven. A free-standing island, painted gray, will have a double sink and dishwasher, a trio of linen-hued upholstered barstools, and lantern pendant lighting above. Gray will reappear as an accent on the wood paneled stove hood.

The home office and walk-in pantry are found right off the kitchen.

Positioned near sliding glass doors to the outdoor living area, the nook will feature a rustic wood table under a black iron chandelier, upholstered chairs, and woven wicker host and hostess chairs.

Arches frame the views from the outdoor living area to the pool and spa. The al fresco spaces will offer woven dining and conversation groupings and a full summer kitchen with a commercial-grade grill.

The study also features light wood tones in the desk and TV credenza. The rustic look will be melded with a modern curved chaise and leather desk chair accented with nail-head trim.

The Girona’s floor plan places master suite and guestrooms in separate wings.

Hickory flooring will continue into the master bedroom, which incorporates the model’s main colors and features medium-toned wood furniture, an upholstered headboard, and a tray ceiling with iron chandelier. A door with sidelights naturally illuminates the room and leads to a trellised patio.

The suite has his-and-her walk-in closets, and its bathroom features light-stained vanities with polished Sicilian mocha-hued limestone tops and crystal and metal light fixtures. Her vanity will offer a dressing table.

The bathroom will also have a travertine floor, free-standing English Victoria + Albert volcanic stone and resin tub set in a windowed alcove, and a travertine-clad walk-in shower.

One of the model’s guestrooms will feature pale blue walls and introduce subdued gray and citrus stripes in a bolster pillow and bench fabrics. The queen-size bed will feature an upholstered headboard with nail-head trim and quilted duvet.

The second bedroom will have two twin beds and shades of pale green, coral and sand.

The Girona will be priced at approximately $2 million, furnished.

The model has a three-car garage and 5,072 total square feet.
